Upgrade a Ricoh 7063A to a Ricoh 7083A
Ricoh MP7063A v1.80 Firmware
Ricoh MP7063A v1.70 Firmware
Ricoh MP7083A v1.20 Firmware
Ricoh RW7083A v1.20 Firmware
RMorph 2.0 [52 KB] - by Kyle Westmoreland
It seems that there is no physical differences between the Ricoh 7063A (6x Write, 4x ReWrite & 32x Read) and Ricoh 7083A (8x Write, 8x ReWrite & 32x Read) drives. Only the firmware is different.

The upgrade works fine for both the MP & RW models and can also be used to upgrade a RW (OEM Model) to a MP (Retal Model)!

Upgrade Instructions
  • Downloaded the latest firmwares for both the Ricoh 7063A and Ricoh 7083A drives.
  • Create the following temporary directories:
    • TempDir#1:  C:\TEMP\7063
    • TempDir#2:  C:\TEMP\7083
  • Extract the Ricoh 7063A firmware to TempDir#1  (v1.80 Firmware Name: P00A180.BIN)
  • Extract the Ricoh 7083A firmware to TempDir#2  (v1.20 Firmware Name: P10A120.BIN)
  • Execute RFLASH.EXE from TempDir#1.
  • From the Pull-Down menu select the Ricoh 7063A CD-Writer as Target Drive.
  • From the Pull-Down menu select the P00A180.BIN firmware as Source File.
  • Select the Back Up current F/W to create a backup of the current firmware.
  • When ready click the Next button.
  • Now remove the P00A180.BIN firmware file from TempDir#1.
  • Copy the P10A120.BIN firmware file from TempDir#2 to TempDir#1.
  • Rename the P10A120.BIN firmware file (in TempDir#1) to P00A180.BIN
  • When ready click Start button and it will upgrade the 7063A to a 7083A.
  • Power off the computer.
  • Ready!

It is also possible to use RMorph to upgrade the drive!
